Elite boars arrived at the pig-breeding complex of the Group of Companies «Titan»
13 Duroc, Landrace and Yorkshire herd boars arrived in June to the pig-breeding complex «Petrovsky» (standalone division of «Titan-Agro» Ltd) under planned renewal of genetic material.
These breeds have high genetic potential and are adapted to conditions of Russian pig industry.
The boars arrived to Omsk region from Voronezh, where genetic selection center «Agroeco» is located — a manufacturer of advanced genetics for pig industry, cooperating with Canadian company Genesus in selection work. The boars were delivered to our region by special transport vehicles intended for transportation of animals.
The weight of each boar is about 155 kg. The animals are currently under a 30-days quarantine with caretaking employees assigned to each boar. They are preparing the boars to introduction into core herd — execute manipulations necessary for lab tests, vaccination etc. After the quarantine is raised the animals will be transferred to artificial insemination station.
It should be noted that there are about 60,000 pigs at the pig-breeding complex «Petrovsky» today.
